National diversity expert speaks May 3 on going beyond rhetoric of equity and opportunity

Rumay Alexander, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s interim chief diversity officer, will present a talk Wednesday, May 3, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Godchaux Nursing Annex, Room 161, in the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Lunch will be provided but requires an RSVP. Alexander, who is also professor and director of the Office of Inclusive Excellence at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing, will speak on “Equity of Opportunity: Beyond the Rhetoric.”

Cristy Stumb’s decision to pursue a career in health care was simple. She had always loved medicine and helping people achieve their best possible state of wellness. Stumb chose to work and go to school simultaneously while raising her family.
VUSN Alum, Sandy Minor, continues to inspire at age 81

Minor was a nurse who “fell into teaching.” She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Vanderbilt University in 1957, a time when there were very few collegiate nursing programs and even fewer master’s programs.
