Preparing for Practice

Get ready for practice

Through the clinics it operates and affiliated hospitals and institutions, Vanderbilt offers one of the most extensive faculty practice networks anywhere. The practice network includes a freestanding primary care clinic, a nurse-midwifery clinic that provides a complete range of OB-OGYN services, school-based clinics and many other practice settings. Opportunities in these settings give Vanderbilt School of Nursing students the real-world experience they need to deliver quality, compassionate patient care.

Vanderbilt has a well respected, rich tradition of placing nurse practitioners and advanced practice nurses in collaborative practices with physicians and within agencies. Each year, School of Nursing clinical faculty provide tens of thousands of visits in numerous clinics affiliated with the school. These clinics are located in public housing sites, senior living facilities and employer health sites. The Certified Nurse-Midwife practice has two clinical sites that deliver hundreds of babies annually.
