VUSN offers inter-professional course in LGBTI health this summer

Students from multiple disciplines are welcome to join the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing this summer for a summer intensive in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) Health. Registration is live now for NURS 6091 – LGBTI Health in Inter-professional Practice.

LGBTI Health in Inter-professional Practice is a course focusing on specific health care needs (from the perspective of many health-related professions) of people who identify as a sexual or gender minority. Students will interact with inter-professional and -disciplinary team members while developing knowledge and skills to provide expert and equitable care for LGBTI people. Students will engage in learning through readings, synchronous and asynchronous discussions, written assignments and a discipline-specific project.

The course is open to any graduate level Vanderbilt student. Nursing students can take it as part of the master’s, post-master’s or doctoral education programs. Medical students take it as an elective in the third or fourth year of their medical education program and as part of an already established Graduate Certificate in LGBT Health.
