Student-Led Activities

Global Health and Environmental Justice Club (GHEJC)

The student-led VUSN Global Health and Environmental Justice club meets the 2nd Monday of each month in NA 160 from 12-1pm.

Please come and join us as we listen, learn and debate about ethics and operational issues surrounding global health initiatives and health policy issues. Please email Dr. Carol Ziegler or current Global Health Club president Samantha Bellamy for more information or to request to be placed on the roster to present. We will continue to send email announcements monthly about our meetings.

Vanderbilt Nursing Student Environmental and Planetary Health Working Group

The Student-led Environmental Health Working Group is a branch of the Global Health club for students with an interest in planetary health and climate change and other environmental health related issues. Students in this club have participated in local community environmental health projects and also put together events and discussions around planetary health issues. Please contact Dr. Carol Ziegler, or Gy Choi student leader, if you would like more information.

Student Advisory Council

The purpose of the Student Advisory Council is to bring together diverse students interested in global health with the goal of fostering cross-disciplinary student networking and collaboration. Members of the Student Advisory Council are responsible for bringing the student perspective to the institute, especially with regards to student opportunities and experiences. The VIGH SAC recruits two VUSN representatives annually in March. Indicate your interest in VIGH SAC.

The student-run VUSN Global Health Club invited recently-returned Nurse in Residents Carly Prentice and Jim Yates to share lessons from their experiences in Kenya. Carly and Jim worked with Nurses in Nurse-led clinics in Central Kenya.
