MN Financial Aid

Financial aid for the MN program is available in the form of a partial scholarship from the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) and federal student loans. Federal student loans are offered to students that are enrolled in at least 5 hours a semester. Financial aid packets will be emailed to MN applicants once admission applications are received. The financial aid packet will explain the financial aid process and will include the tuition and fees information. You can view the tuition and fee information here.

The partial scholarship awarded to MN students will be $3,000 a semester. If a student receives tuition benefits or an outside scholarship that will cover their tuition, then the VUSN partial scholarship is not awarded. There is no application required for an MN student to complete to receive the partial scholarship.

Is the Financial Aid sufficient to cover the cost of the program and living expenses?

Students find that the monies they receive in Federal student loans covers the cost of the program and modest living expenses.

How Do I Qualify for Financial Aid?

Graduate financial aid consists of scholarships and student loans. In order for MN students to be considered for scholarships they must be accepted to VUSN, have matriculated (paid their deposit). Financial aid for graduate level students is non-need based aid. Non-need based aid for graduate students includes scholarships, Federal Direct Unsubsidized loans and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS loans on which the interest accrues from the date of disbursement.

How Do I Apply?

To apply for federal student loans, a current or prospective student must complete one application: the Free Application for Federal Student Aid . Our school code for the FAFSA is 003535.

Your tax information from prior year’s tax returns is required to complete the FAFSA. You should indicate you will be a graduate level student on the FAFSA and you do not need to provide parents information on the FAFSA. The FAFSA must be filed annually and is available in October of each year.

If you are interested in an external scholarship, those applications must be initiated by the student.

How are financial aid awards disbursed?

All financial aid is credited directly to a student's account at the beginning of each semester. In order to receive a loan, loan documents must be completed online and approved before loan funds disburse to the student account. Federal student loan information can be read and completed online here.
