    Vanderbilt nursing researcher Alvin Jeffery awarded Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for nursing innovators

    Vanderbilt University School of Nursing Assistant Professor Alvin Jeffery is one of 12 nurse scientists accepted into the third cohort of the Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators. The fellowship program, funded by a $37.5 million grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, recognizes early- to mid-career nursing scholars and innovators with high potential to accelerate leadership in nursing research, practice, education, policy and entrepreneurship.     School of Nursing awarded NIH grant to provide genomics education to nurse researchers and educators

    Associate Professor of Nursing Laurie Connors, DNP, FAANP, has received a five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health National Human Genome Research Institute to train doctors of nursing practice and PhD nurses in the translation and integration of genomics into academics, research and clinical practice. “We will deploy a ‘train the trainer’ model,” Connors said. “Our participants will take their skills back to their universities to serve as champions to incorporate genomics into curriculum, research, scholarship and clinical practice."     VUSN faculty Hudson and Starks honored with MLK Award at annual lecture

    Two Vanderbilt School of Nursing faculty received the annual Martin Luther King Jr. award presented by VUSN and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine during the 2020 MLK Commemorative Lecture on Monday. Assistant Professors Tamika Hudson, DNP, MSN’12, and Jannyse Starks, DNP’11, MSN,’09 were honored for their work with the Community Action Poverty Simulation, which helps students, faculty, staff and community leaders experience life in poverty through a planned simulation. School of Medicine Assistant Professor Adriana Bialostozky, MD, was also honored, receiving the MLK award for her work in providing culturally competent care in pediatrics. Read More
