Recognized for her assessment of current workforce education. She serves as the coordinator of the Oregon Governor’s Healthcare Workforce initiative to direct and implement a coordinated statewide response to healthcare workforce issues. Prior to this appointment, she served as secretary on the Oregon State Board of Higher Education. She was director of special programs in academic affairs for the 20 campuses of California State University. She was the first civilian nurse White House fellow in 1982serving as special assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Education. She founded and directed the National Adult Literacy Initiative from 1983 to 1985. She has spoken at conferences both national and internationally.
