Recognized for her dedication to educating nurses. She is a Professor of Nursing at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She served as Professor and Dean of the Jeanette Rudy School of Nursing at Cumberland University from 2000 through February 2007. In 2004, she was named The Nashville Tennessean Nurse of the Year. In 2001, she received the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching at Cumberland University, and in 2000, she was inducted as a Charter Fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and continues to be active in this organization today. She was Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Graduate Specialty at the School for seven years and helped facilitate the opening of the Vine Hill Community Clinic. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Ingeborg Mauksch Faculty Mentor Award, the Tennessee Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and was inducted into the Peabody College Educator’s Roundtable.
