Sharon Fleming   DNP, RN, CPNP-PC

Bio

Dr. Sharon Fleming has been an Instructor in Nursing at Vanderbilt University since 2006. She has specialized in pediatrics for more than 30 years. She is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. She recently completed her Doctoral degree in Nursing Practice from University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2011. She was inducted in the Sigma Theta Tau honor society of nursing in 1998 and maintained her honor status throughout her doctoral training.

She has written and published articles in Tennessee Nurse, Minority Nurse and other publications. Her doctoral scholarly clinical project was entitled: Implementation and Evaluation of a Health Component in an Adolescent Bike Workshop. Her project was centered around the need to enhance physical activity knowledge and participation in adolescents, focusing on minority populations that are prone to obesity.

Some of her most recent clinical experience was in an inner city clinic in Nashville, providing primary care to middle school students and working as a nurse practitioner in perioperative services holding room at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
