Bio
Dr. Stoots is an instructor in the School of Nursing Informatics Program. She is a recognized informatics leader with extensive strategic and operational leadership experience in clinical informatics. Her past professional roles include Vice President of Clinical Informatics for Vidant Health, corporate EHR Director for BayCare Health, and Application Architect Leader to support research at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Stoots also founded her own clinician-led informatics consulting firm, CIC Advisory, specializing in strategy and planning, analytics, clinical informatics, and EHR optimization. Publications include a HIMSS top seller book, "A Guide to EHR Adoption: Implementation through Organizational Transformation" and as a contributing author in the Sigma Theta Tau nursing informatics textbook "Mastering Informatics: A Healthcare Handbook for Success." She is a former member of the HIMSS Health Information Technology Usability Committee. Her scholarly areas of expertise are EHR safety and usability. She is board certified in nursing informatics and teaches both doctoral and masters level informatics courses.
