The School of Nursing has opened applications for the Master of Nursing program for the class that will begin January 2025. The MN program is designed for individuals with an earned bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing who wish to enter the discipline as registered nurses.
The inaugural class of 30 MN students graduated from VUSN on May 10, and the second class is currently making its way through the program.
VUSN started the MN program in 2023 as a solution to the well-known nursing shortage and in response to requests from local hospitals for registered nurses. The program provides a path to generalist nursing as well as advanced specialties. Unique to Vanderbilt, the program has a focus on health equity.
During pinning and Commencement ceremonies, VUSN Dean Pamela Jeffries, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANEF, FSSH, commended the school’s MN graduates.
“You have been equipped with the knowledge, experience and problem-solving skills to be exceptional registered nurses and health equity advocates,” she said. “Your advocacy for health justice, and your tireless efforts to become skilled nurses will bring honor to our most trustworthy profession.”
