The School of Nursing Diversity and Inclusion committee will host a webinar on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. CST to discuss “COVID Perspectives, Values and Vaccination Hesitancy.” A panel of public health and prevention experts will discuss the complexities of personal and professional communication with individuals who are hesitant or refuse to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Panelists will also explore common misconceptions, social norms, logistical challenges, and generational mistrust that have significantly impacted the implementation of community-based COVID-19 vaccine initiatives in the Metro-Nashville area. They will also share effective strategies to address personal views and fears that embolden vaccine hesitancy without judgement or persecution.
Panelists include Pam Jones, DNP, FAAN, Vanderbilt University associate vice chancellor for health and wellness; Christian Ketel, DNP, assistant professor of nursing and co-coordinator of the VUSN/VUMC Mobile Vaccine Program; Carrie Plummer, PhD, assistant professor of nursing and co-coordinator of the VUSN/VUMC Mobile Vaccine Program; and Mamie Williams, MPH, MSH, senior director of nursing diversity and inclusion for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The panel will be moderated by Diversity and Inclusion committee members Julia Steed, PhD, and Brandee Madden, DNP.
