VUSN recognizes faculty and staff at awards ceremony
The Vanderbilt University School of Nursing held its 2024 Faculty and Staff Awards ceremony Thursday, May 16, to celebrate the hard work and dedication that keeps VUSN’s programs excellent and highly ranked among peer institutions.
Faculty Awards
- Professor Julia Phillippi, PhD, MSN’99, received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Service to Faculty and Students.
- Assistant Professor Leanne Boehm, PhD’16, MSN’09, received the Dean’s Award for Recognition of Faculty Achievement in Research Endeavors.
- Assistant Professor Melissa Davis, DNP, MSN’03, received the Dean’s Award for Recognition of Faculty Achievement in Clinical Practice.
- Assistant Professor Sarah Gast, DNP’15, PMC’13, received the Dean’s Award for Recognition of Faculty Achievement in Innovation and Creativity.
- Instructor Lacey Cross, DNP, MSN’15, received the Dean’s Award for Recognition of Faculty Achievement in Academics.
- Assistant Professor Colleen Moss, DNP, MSN’01, BS’00, received the Ingeborg Mauksch Award for Excellence in Faculty Mentoring.
- Assistant Professor James Muchira, PhD, received the VUSN Award for Recognition of Faculty Achievement in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Professor Jennifer Kim, DNP, MSN’97, received the VUSN Impact Award for Faculty.
Four faculty received the DAISY Award during the event. The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barnes, in honor of the nurses who supported him with compassion and kindness. DAISY nurses have made extraordinary contributions and make a difference for patients and families. The DAISY Award recipients were nominated and selected by VUSN students.
- Instructor Jason Jean, DNP’16, MSN’00, received the VUSN DAISY Award for Recognition of Small Group Facilitator at the DNP Level.
- Instructor Molly Butler, MSN’06, BS’05, received the VUSN DAISY Award for Recognition of Small Group Facilitator at the MSN Level,
- Assistant Professor Erica Stone, DNP, MSN’05, received the VUSN DAISY Award for Recognition of Small Group Facilitator at the PreSpecialty Level.
- Instructor Brittany Kirby, DNP’22, MSN’18, received the VUSN DAISY Award for Recognition of Small Group Facilitator at the MN Level.
Staff Awards
- Associate Director, FNIC Support Tim Groves received the VUSN Excellence in Service Award.
- Program Manager Heidi Bates received the VUSN Citizenship Award.
- Senior Administrative Coordinator Mazo Freeman received the VUSN Unsung Hero Award.
- Program Manager Daien Sanchez received the VUSN Award for Recognition of Staff Achievement in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Assistant Dean, Finance and Operations Bryn Evans received the VUSN Impact Award for Staff.
School award recipients were selected by an award committee composed of the school’s 2023 Faculty and Staff Award honorees from nominations submitted by fellow faculty and staff.
