Vanderbilt celebrates Dean Norman for accomplishments, leadership

Vanderbilt University School of Nursing held a celebration honoring Dean Linda Norman, DNS, FAAN, as she prepared to step down as dean on June 30.

Colleagues, faculty, staff, alumni and Vanderbilt University leaders were on hand in person and via Zoom as Vanderbilt Chancellor Daniel Diermeier unveiled a portrait of the dean by acclaimed artist Dean Linda Norman stands next to an oil portrait of herself Michael Shane Neal. Vanderbilt Provost Susan R. Wente led a toast to Norman, who marked her eighth year as dean and 30th as faculty at VUSN. VUMC President and CEO Jeff Balser recognized Norman for her role in the strong partnership between VUSN and VUMC, and VUMC Executive Chief Nursing Officer thanked Norman for being an ally and advocate for nurses.

Norman intends to take a sabbatical, travel and work on research papers concerning COVID-19 in the higher education setting.
