Joshua Faucett, DNP, FNP-BC, CNE, will join the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing as inaugural assistant dean for clinical affairs, effective August 1.
Faucett will serve as the director for clinical affairs, working with faculty and the clinical placement team on student clinical placement matters. He will also oversee clinical affairs, educational contracts, and compliance with state regulatory and statutory regulations, as well as monitor changes in nursing accreditation standards and regulations.
“From my experience as a student, faculty adviser and mentor, I understand the importance of clinical placement to a student’s education and their ability to thrive in the workforce,” Faucett said. “I am eager to leverage my expertise to strengthen the Office of Clinical Affairs, build lasting community and institutional partnerships, improve outcomes and develop strategic initiatives that align with the school’s mission of excellence.”
Faucett joins Vanderbilt from Fountain Vitality Inc., where he served as director of medical operations and compliance. He previously worked as an assistant professor and course coordinator at Frontier Nursing University, where he rewrote the school’s Advanced Pathophysiology course and chaired the Faculty Staff Committee. He has extensive experience with regulatory compliance, negotiation, team building, operations and developing systems and procedures. and has also served as an operations officer in the U.S. Army and lead nurse practitioner/research APRN at Weill Cornell Medical College.
“Dr. Faucett has a proven ability to design and implement solutions that improve outcomes for students, patients and institutions alike,” said Dean Pamela R. Jeffries, PhD, FAAN, ANEF, FSSH, the Valere Potter Distinguished Professor of Nursing. “His expertise in navigating complex regulatory environments, building effective teams, and aligning clinical and academic initiatives with federal and state mandates will prove to be invaluable here at VUSN.”
Interim Senior Associate Dean for Academics Ruth Kleinpell, PhD, FAAN, FAANP, said, “We have been working to further enhance the clinical placement process and expand the clinical placement sites for students. Dr. Faucett’s prior clinical experience as well as his health care executive expertise will benefit our ongoing efforts. We are looking forward to him joining VUSN.”
Assistant Dean for Clinical Placements Melissa Carro said Faucett’s background in regulation, nursing practice and teaching will be an asset to the School of Nursing. “Dr. Faucett brings a wealth of diverse expertise to Vanderbilt School of Nursing, and I look forward to partnering with him,” she said.
Faucett received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New York University, his Master of Science in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner from Pace University and his Doctor of Nursing Practice in Leadership/Management from Yale University. He holds a Bachelor of Business Management and a Master of Business Administration from American Intercontinental University. Currently, he is completing his Juris Doctor degree from Northern Kentucky University, which he expects to obtain this year.
Faucett is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
