The Vanderbilt University School of Nursing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office and Black Student Nurses Affinity Group are hosting Diversity Month 2023. Throughout February and March, different student-led affinity groups will bring in speakers and hold activities to promote inclusivity and an increased understanding of health equity and different cultures.
This year’s programming includes:

“Echo Chamber: The Hidden Challenge (Maybe Danger?) to Nursing Diversity,” presented by Randolph “Randy” Rasch, PhD, MSN’79,, FNP, FAANP, professor and former dean of the Michigan State University College of Nursing. This event is hosted by the American Assembly for Men in Nursing Affinity Group.

“The Impact of Microaggressions on Students of Color,” presented by Vanderbilt University Counseling Center panelists: Aneesa Anderson, Social Justice and Inclusion Counselor; Amber Hopkins, MSN’22, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner; Jordan D. Mike, Urgent Care Counselor; and Martez Nelson, Social Justice and Inclusion Counselor. This event is hosted by the Black Student Nurses Affinity Group.
