Happy Nurses Day and Month to all our remarkable nurse alumni, friends and students! We hope the month will be full of good reminders of why you became a nurse and of how valued you are.
Vanderbilt, along with colleagues at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and around the globe, is extending its recognition of nurses and the impact they have on health care to the full month of May.
Look for invitations to the May Dore to Door Speaker Series and register for two events investigating, “Perception vs. Reality: Is It Time to Rebrand Nursing?” If you’ve ever shouted at the TV over a medical drama’s depiction of nurses or wished the public understood how much nurses actually do, these sessions are for you. They’re May 10 at 6 p.m. and May 12 at 4 p.m.
Other events include the May 18 VUSN Dean’s Diversity Lecture given by Antonia M. Villarruel, PhD, FAAN, dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Her noon address focuses on health equity and actions nurses can take to help eliminate health disparities.
