Miles for Mercury Color Run Saturday

The Vanderbilt Pre-Nursing Society is hosting the fifth annual Miles for Mercury event, a 3K and 5K color run, on Saturday, Oct. 27. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. on Wilson Lawn, with the run beginning at 10 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Clinic at Mercury Courts, Vanderbilt’s nurse-managed clinic providing care for some of Nashville’s most vulnerable people.

Registration is $5 for students, plus $12 for shirts. Non-Vanderbilt participants registration is $20 and includes shirt. Register online at https://bit.ly/2Rn62uz or in person through the Sarratt Student Center. You can also register on Venmo at @Miles4Merc.

The event emphasizes fun rather than competition. Along the route, participants are showered with colored powder made of food-grade cornstarch, emerging in various rainbow hues.

“The annual run has raised thousands of dollars for the clinic over the years,” said Assistant Professor Christian Ketel, DNP, RN-BC, manager of the Clinic at Mercury Courts. “The money raised goes directly to patient care services including medication, labs and social crisis care, like suicidality support and food insecurity relief, to name a few.”

Prizes for participants include VISA gift cards and gift cards to the Pancake Pantry, McDougals and the Legendairy Milkshake Bar.
