All members of the School of Nursing community are invited to take part in Vanderbilt’s Giving Day 2024, a 24-hour giving fest filled with matching challenges, power hours and participation goals happening on Thursday, April 11.
Gifts given to VUSN directly support:
- Critical student scholarships that ensure VUSN attracts the most talented and promising students, regardless of ability to pay. An expanded portfolio of scholarships supporting MN, MSN, DNP and Ph.D. students, as well as post-doctoral candidates, is essential so that Vanderbilt can continue to educate diverse leaders in nursing who will improve global health care and meet the demands of the health care system over the next decade.
- Expanding research capabilities of VUSN faculty, elevating Vanderbilt’s position as not only a top leader in education and practice, but also in research.
- The Academy for Diverse Emerging Nurse Leaders, which provides a fellowship opportunity for health care nurse leaders and faculty from diverse backgrounds in the early stages of their leadership careers.
- The school’s new master of nursing degree program that is preparing students to deliver high-quality, comprehensive care as registered nurses in a changing health care environment.
- Money raised for the School of Nursing can go to a specific area of the school or to general funds, which are used primarily for student scholarships. However, if you want to support the VUSN Alumni Board Student Award for graduating seniors, please note “Student Award” in the special instructions box on the gift page.
The goal for Giving Day is not just a monetary figure–although those are important. One of the top goals for Giving Day is to have more people than ever donate a gift of any size. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a testament to the power of collective action.
Specific 2024 School of Nursing challenges
Giving is so appreciated but if you want to help your gift earn more money, take part in these challenges:
- Medical Shipment and Dan Micic, friends of the School of Nursing, will match dollar-for-dollar on all gifts made to the School of Nursing up to $20,000.
- Give noon–1 p.m and Dean Pam Jeffries will match gifts dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000, and given to any area of the School of Nursing.
- When 275 donors make a gift to the School of Nursing, a $10,000 gift will be unlocked in honor of beloved former faculty member, Tom Christenbery, MSN’87, PHD’04. This year’s challenge is made by a group of faculty, former faculty and alumni who are modeling Tom’s steadfast support of VUSN by encouraging others to make a gift of any size to VUSN on Giving Day. They are encouraging others to consider joining the Julia Hereford Society donor society with an annual gift of $2,500 or greater to any area of the School of Nursing. Graduates of the last 10 academic years may qualify through giving $1,000 to VUSN during the year.
By giving, you join the entire Commodore community in making a significant impact on students, faculty and research. Your contribution will not only count toward VUSN’s Dare to Grow campaign goal, but also fuel its mission for generations to come.
As Vanderbilt continue to build upon its legacy of innovation, inclusivity and trailblazing research, your support is crucial. Together, we can shape the future of our university and make a lasting impact. To make a gift, visit vu.edu/givingday #VU4LIFE
