CAP Program Students

Scholarship

  • Full-Time Students: Up to $22,250 per year
  • Part-Time Students: Up to $15,000 per year
  • Divided between tuition reimbursement and stipend: Distribution amount varies

Applicant Requirements

  • Good academic standing
  • Intention to practice rural and/or medically underserved communities
  • Willingness to travel to rural areas during clinical rotations

Application Process

  • Applications will open on January 19, 2026
  • Deadline for Submission is February 17, 2026·       
  • Applicants will be notified by March 25, 2026

Additional Information for Applicants

MTA Applicants

  • Student will be assigned to a site
  • Urban underserved and rural clinical partner sites
  • Rural sites are up to 150 miles outside of Nashville
  • Sites may require an interview

OMTA Applicants

  • Student secures site in preferred location
  • Site must meet grant requirements
    • Rural health or underserved populations
    • Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), FQHC Look-Alikes (LAL), Rural Health Clinics (RHC), Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal Health, and Urban Indian Health Organizations, community health clinics
  • Request submitted to Exxat by application deadline (September 23)
  • Site acceptance is contingent on signed affiliation agreement between site and VUSN.
  • Please reach out to vusncaps@vanderbilt.edu if interested in one of our previously used OMTA sites.
