The Academy for Diverse Aspiring Nurse Leaders was developed by Vanderbilt School of Nursing and Vanderbilt University Medical Center for registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, nurse educators, case managers and nurse informaticists with at least three years' experience but not yet in a leadership role.

The unique, immersive experience is led by recognized local and national leaders with diverse backgrounds in health care and higher education.

What You’ll Learn

Over the course of the program, you and your peer aspiring nurse leaders will be empowered through ongoing mentorship, strategic planning and self- discovery where you’ll learn:

  • Theories of leadership and people management
  • Fundamental managerial competencies and finance structure
  • Conflict management and negotiation
  • Personality assessment

  • Influences of racism and discrimination on the leadership path and health care
  • How your experiences shape your leadership or instructional style
  • Strategies on how—and why it’s necessary—to build your community of supporters and mentors
