Vanderbilt School of Nursing has harnessed its more than 100 years of expertise in education, practice and research into a library of online and hybrid learning designed for nurses at all stages of their careers. Whether you want to take a short, micro-credential course at your convenience or spend a few days in Nashville for an immersive leadership course, VUSN’s renowned faculty will share their expertise in courses tailored for working nurses.
Short, self-paced online learning activities within a variety of health care and clinical skill areas can help nurses learn and gain competency in a particular skill or type of care, earning a digital badge. Take several micro-credential learning activities in a specific topic and earn CEs and a digital certificate.
Vanderbilt's acclaimed Academy for Diverse Emerging Nurse Leaders helps early-career nurse faculty and nurse leaders develop the skills and knowledge to advance, while the Academy for Diverse Aspiring Nurse Leaders does the same for nurses not yet in leadership.
Vanderbilt faculty and other participants share on specific topics, including planetary health, nursing education and emergency health. Usually presented only once, webinars allow for Q&A from the audience and don’t require a lot of tech—perfect for people who want to watch on a cellphone or who have limited internet.
Vanderbilt School of Nursing Summer Institutes offer an annual series of events for health professionals, nurse educators, nurse researchers and other stakeholders from around the globe. Dynamic and collaborative platforms empower participants to engage in cutting-edge discussions, innovative learning experiences and professional development opportunities. The interdisciplinary learning series encourages participants to explore the latest trends, research and best practices in nursing and health care.
Vanderbilt School of Nursing partners with nursing organizations, including for-profit businesses, to tailor learning experiences for their employees or members. Contact Professional Development Director Lisa Hartman to learn more.
Nurses always need professional development education to maintain certification, but they might not have the time or ability to work on a degree. Our professional development program gives them the excellence of a Vanderbilt education in specific topics and areas.
