Non-degree Students

Non-degree students may enroll in one or more non-clinical courses without being admitted as a degree- or certificate-seeking student. There is a lifetime limit of 7 credit hours. Courses completed as a non-degree student do not guarantee future admission to any degree or Post-Master’s Certificate program.

Non-degree Students with BSN

Nurses with BSN degrees may enroll in online courses like Advanced Physiology and Pathophysiology or Professional Formation I.

Non-degree students with MSN or DNP

Nurses with an interest in nursing education may enroll in Curriculum Strategies for Health Professional Education

Tech Support

Non-degree students will receive a VUnetID and e-password. They then can access VU technology to register for classes and access course-related materials.

Services

Non-degree students receive student IDs, Vanderbilt VUnetIDs and email, library access and technology support.

Nursing Students

Registration as a non-degree student requires approval by the registrar. All university and School of Nursing regulations, including the Honor System, apply to non-degree students. Non-degree students who seek admission as a degree- or certificate-seeking student must make application for admission following regular procedures.

  • School of Nursing courses are $1,997 per credit hour. Multiply $1,997 by the number of hours to compute the tuition charge. Non-degree students are not eligible for federal financial aid.
  • All non-degree students must pay a one-time university transcript fee of $100.
  • All students must pay a $3,918/year health insurance fee if unable to present evidence of personal insurance.
    If you have your own health insurance, complete an online petition to waive insurance.
  • Non-degree students will be charged a Student Service Fee of $305.00 for the fall and spring semesters and $104 for the summer semester. The fee cannot be waived.
