Students achieve understanding of human cognitive, emotional and psychosocial stages throughout the lifespan. They examine major concepts, theories and research in human growth and development from prenatal to end of life.
This course examines major concepts, theories, and research in human growth and development across the lifespan, from the prenatal period through the end of life. Emphasis is placed on physical, cognitive, and psychosocial factors that influence individual functioning at each stage of life. Students will explore both typical developmental trajectories and how deviations, stressors, illness, and risk factors manifest across the lifespan. This undergraduate-level course provides a foundation for advanced study of human development within the nursing curriculum.
