Shannon Ellrich   DNP, AGACNP-BC, FNP-BC, ENP-C

Bio

Dr. Shannon Ellrich served in the United States Army Nurse Corps from 2009-2015. While in the Army, she worked in military Emergency Departments and Intensive Care Units (ICU) both in the United States and abroad. In 2014, she deployed with the 86th Combat Support Hospital (CSH) to Liberia in response to the Ebola Outbreak. There she served on the Ebola Management Training Team tasked with preparing healthcare professionals to care for patients diagnosed with Ebola. From 2015-2017, she worked as an RN in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Adult Emergency Department while completing a dual specialty Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) program with a clinical focus in Emergency Medicine and Global Health at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN). During that time, she had the unique opportunity to serve as faculty during the development of the first BSN program at the University of Guyana School of Nursing. In 2017, she began working as a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner at VUMC while completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Critical Care Fellowship. As a part of her scholarly work, she developed and implemented an early mobility program in a low-resource intensive care unit in Georgetown, Guyana in 2019. In 2020, she was a part of the COVID response tasked with the development and implementation of assessment sites across Nashville, TN, and the COIVD hospital at Music City Center.

Dr. Ellrich's clinical background includes emergency medicine, cardiovascular intensive care unit, medical intensive care unit, and global health. She is board-certified in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, Family Nurse Practitioner and Emergency Nurse Practitioner. She teaches in the Master of Nursing, Pre-Specialty Program at VUSN while maintaining clinical practice at VUMC.
