Bio

Dr. Melinda Johnson is board certified as a Family, Adult Gerontology Acute Care, and Emergency Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University with specialty education in Emergency Care. She currently practices in the Emergency Department at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Faculty/Staff Express Care Clinic at Vanderbilt.

She has a passion for teaching, having begun her career with a degree in Secondary Education - Biological Sciences from Pennsylvania State University. She currently serves as faculty for Barkley and Associate's Emergency and Acute Care board review courses. She has also served as adjunct faculty at Belmont University.

Clinically, she has over ten years of nursing experience in Emergency Medicine as well as Adult and Pediatric Intensive Care. During her time in Vanderbilt?s Adult ED, she served as a Trauma Resuscitation Education Assistant and in leadership roles including Relief Staff Leader and Unit Board Chair. She is an active member of the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau, Emergency Nurses Association and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. She enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, running, and biking with her husband and two children.
