Bio

Mamie Williams serves as the senior director for nurse diversity and inclusion at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is a co-director and task force member of the Academy for Diverse Emerging Nurse Leaders at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.

Ms. Williams is responsible for fostering collaborative partnerships with nurse leaders, staff and faculty to ensure VUMC?s nurse work environment exemplifies diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices. Her responsibilities include expanding efforts to create a sustainable system for diversity, equity and inclusion in nursing at VUMC, working within VUMC and engaging the wider community. She is the executive sponsor of the VUMC Nurse Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee and co-chair of the VUMC Racial Equity Task Force, charged with the development of the institutions? strategic direction for inclusion and diversity. Her professional responsibilities over the past 15 years have centered on improving the nurse work environment. Ms. Williams completed the Cornell University Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program in January 2022.
