Lori Schirle   PhD, CRNA

Assistant Professor

Bio

Dr. Lori Schirle is Post-Doctoral Fellow, studying under Dr. Ann Minnick. Her research interests include nursing workforce and work environment, opioid prescriptive practices and health policy. Prior to earning her PhD, Dr. Schirle worked as a CRNA in various capacities, and developed an interest in how health policy shapes daily working lives of nurses. Lori was instrumental in producing a report on the economic impact of restrictive state laws on APRNs, and in research highlighting opioid and benzodiazepine prescribing rates in independent and restricted APRN prescribing states. Her dissertation examined the work environment of advanced practice nurses in hospital settings. Currently, Lori is a Post-Doctoral Health Services Research Fellow through the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Foundation, and is focusing her efforts on the investigation of provider opioid prescribing practices.
