Bio

Dr. Jennifer Wilbeck is certified as an Acute Care, Family, and Emergency Nurse Practitioner. She has led the Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) Specialty at Vanderbilt since its inception in 2006.

Clinically, she has more than 17 years of practice experience in both rural and urban Emergency Department settings. In addition to maintaining a clinical practice within several local emergency departments, Dr. Wilbeck serves as a mentor for students pursuing the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. 

She has lectured nationally on various clinical, educational and professional topics related to the role of the ENP. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as both a Family and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Her scholarly interests include the role of simulation in nurse practitioner education, ENP practice issues and competency assessment, as well as curriculum development. 

Her continued practice as an ENP provides the clinical backdrop for ongoing clinical publications and presentations. She was instrumental in establishment of the national ENP exam and is currently leading a national initiative to standardize ENP education. Dr. Wilbeck was the founding Board Chair for the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners.
