Bio
Christian R. Ketel, DNP, RN, FNAP, is a distinguished leader in the field of nursing with a robust background in nursing practice, health systems leadership, and community healthcare. As an Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, he imparts knowledge on healthcare quality improvement, informatics, and leading interprofessional teams. Additionally, Dr. Ketel co-directs the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance's Interprofessional Learning Program, guiding students in addressing social and economic inequities. Dr. Ketel's dedication to community health shines through his volunteer initiatives. He spearheaded the Vanderbilt Mobile Vaccine Program, vaccinating over 10,000 individuals from underserved communities in partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center and local community agencies. Moreover, as the founder of the Urban Housing Solutions Community Resiliency Hub, he has facilitated vital resources, from emergency food to health system navigation, reaching thousands in need.
Esteemed by his community and peers, Dr. Ketel's accolades are extensive, including Middle Tennessee State University True Blue Distinction for Community Service (2023), the Martin Luther King Jr. Award (Vanderbilt University, 2022), John W. Runyan Community Nursing Award (University of Tennessee, 2022), and the Excellence in Nursing Award (Tennessee Nurses Association, 2019). An esteemed author, he has contributed to various publications on primary care, suicidality, and interprofessional collaboration.
