Christian Ketel DNP, RN is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN). He teaches courses focused primarily on nursing leadership and biomedical informatics for VUSN?s Doctorate of Nursing Practice program. Additionally, he is one of the founders and is currently the Manager for the VUSN sponsored clinic, Clinic at Mercury Courts. This clinic is a community embedded, nurse-designed, and award winning clinic that focuses on delivering team-based, interprofessional care to vulnerable patients in Nashville, TN and to the surrounding region. Dr. Ketel also splits his time as a clinical informatics consultant for the Tennessee Primary Care Association (TPCA) where he assists Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in the development of local and statewide clinical information systems to expand the use and availability of clinical information in the hopes of improving clinical quality, cost effectiveness, and patient safety across Tennessee. Dr. Ketel has had many years of experience in both advanced practice nursing and in building organizational information systems and networks designed for use in the nonprofit, primary care setting. Prior to coming to VUSN, Dr. Ketel was the Chief Information Officer for University Community Health Service in Nashville, TN. He has published and presented primarily on the topics of health informatics use and adoption and the integration of interprofessional practice and education in the ambulatory care setting. Dr. Ketel earned his Doctorate of Nursing Practice from VUSN in 2014 and has since completed a post-graduate certificate program in LEAN for Healthcare from Belmont University Massey Graduate School of Business.
