Bio

Dr. Brian Widmar is a certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with a clinical background in cardiothoracic critical care, his expertise being in the care management of patients with advanced heart failure, cardiothoracic transplantation and mechanical circulatory support device therapy. He joined the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing faculty in 2010. 

His research interests include quality of life, patient and family-centered care and self-care education in cardiothoracic transplant and ventricular assist device patient populations.
