School of Nursing Building earns LEED certification
The Vanderbilt University School of Nursing Building has earned LEED certification, signifying it is a healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green building. The building opened in 2019 as one of the university's most technically advanced facilities complete with interactive and virtual classrooms and cutting-edge simulation laboratory. It earned the Gold LEED accreditation by incorporating high efficiency flush and flow plumbing, installing systems for energy cost savings and strategically sourcing raw materials—including repurposing a tree removed from the site as material for a focal wall. Hard hats and shovels signal the start of construction for School of Nursing building
Students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing gathered June 20 for a groundbreaking ceremony officially starting construction on the nursing school’s new $26.3 million expansion. Vanderbilt Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan R. Wente, Board of Trust Trustee Emeritus Dennis Bottorff and School of Nursing Dean Linda Norman spoke at the ceremony, which was held in front of the School of Nursing’s Godchaux and Patricia Champion Frist Halls at 461 21st Ave. S. Main entrance to VUSN during construction
As of July 5, all visitors to the School of Nursing should enter from 21st Ave. S. via the MRB III ramp and new walkway into Godchaux Hall, where you'll be welcomed at our new reception desk.
