Alumna is one of the U.S. Airforce’s first aerospace nurse practitioners

U.S. Air Force Capt. Molly Dunkelberger, MSN’17, has a new role with the 17th Medical Group at Goodfellow Air Force Base in Texas: She is one of eight pioneering aerospace nurse practitioners in the Air Force. Aerospace nurse practitioner is a new career field and Dunkelberger and her seven colleagues have been specially trained in aerospace medicine to fill the growing gap of flight surgeons. Dunkelberger serves as the primary care manager for the 17th Security Forces Squadron.

School of Nursing and Blanchfield Community Hospital deepen partnership with site visits

School of Nursing leaders representing specialties ranging from nurse-midwifery to family nurse practitioner visited the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell last week. The visit was a reciprocal one after Blanchfield leaders toured VUSN recently. The visits are part of an initiative to deepen a partnership between VUSN and the military hospital. During their visit, they discussed educational opportunities and student placements for those interested in military medicine. VUSN academic and clinical placement leaders were also part of the field trip.

John Dowlen, VUSN FNP Alumnus, hired at CHI Memorial Medical Group (TN)

CHI Memorial Medical group announces John Dowlen, FNP-C, has joined CHI Memorial Family Practice Associates – Soddy-Daisy. Mr. Dowlen is certified in basic life support as well as nonviolent crisis intervention. He’s also an ordained minister. He received his master of science in nursing – family nurse practitioner at VUSN.
