Mission
NSRH provides students, nurses, and midwives with education and resources to become skilled care providers and social change agents in sexual and reproductive health justice.
Our Vision
We envision a world in which all people have access to just and dignified comprehensive health care. Sexual and reproductive health care is integral to the health and well-being of our communities. Yet millions of people lack access to this critical care, especially people of color, youth, LGBTQ+ folx, and those living in low income/or isolated areas.
History
NSRH was created by the joining forces of two nursing schools, Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) and Winona State University, in 2007. It evolved into the organization it is today in 2018. Today there are 26 chapters in different universities around the United States, with one of those here at Vanderbilt University.
Membership
Membership is open to any student. Qualifications to join includes students with interest in sexual and reproductive health and are in good standing with VUSN. Leadership positions stand for one academic year and are chosen via an application process. Dues are not a requirement of this organization. Membership includes free membership to the national organization.
Meetings
Meetings occur monthly. Dates and times vary based on event and will be communicated via email and posted on the Instagram page. Meetings occur virtually and/or in person.
Interprofessional Collaboration
NSRH strives to foster collaboration with other student organizations. An example is Med Students for Choice from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
