Meharry-Vanderbilt Student Alliance
The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance develops and supports collaborative initiatives. It has provided opportunities for collaboration between Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and for collaboration with projects in the community. The Alliance is a leader in advancing inter-institutional collaborations to enhance and support high-impact translational research, inter-professional learning and community engagement.

The objective of American Assembly for Men in Nursing (AAMN) is strengthening and humanizing health care and improving gender inclusion in the nursing profession. Membership is open to any nurse or nursing student to facilitate discussion to meet this objective.

Asian Pacific Islander and Desi American (APIDA) Student Nurses
The objective of VUSN’s Asian Pacific Islander and Desi American (APIDA) Student Nurses organization is to serve as a Vanderbilt student organizing body that strives to positively affect the health and well-being of APIDA members and their communities. APIDA aims to provide networking opportunities for all members and serve as a means of social support for students matriculating through VUSN. This organization seeks to collaborate with faculty and staff on scholarly projects and nurture personal growth through both academic and professional work.

Black Student Nurses Affinity Group
The Black Student Nurses Affinity Group (BSNAG) strives to provide resources and support to nursing students to ensure successful completion of their respective VUSN graduate programs. BSNAG participation and membership is open to all nurses and nursing students. Membership offers exposure to mentorship, networking and collaboration with peers, faculty and staff and serves as a means of social support through formal and informal communication and events. BSNAG also hosts activities that allow students to explore the role of advanced practiced nursing in various capacities and promote cultural awareness in health care.

DNP Cultural Connections Network
The objective of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Cultural Connections Network (DNPCCN), a student affinity group, is to bring together DNP students of all backgrounds to celebrate and advocate for increased representation of all groups in the nursing profession. We embrace and celebrate all ethnicities, races, nationalities, gender identities, cultures, sexual orientations and abilities that create a community of nurse leaders and scholars within the VUSN DNP program. We strive to promote an environment that promotes a sense of belonging where everyone feels valued and deeply connected.

Hispanic/Latinx Student Nurses Affinity Group
The Hispanic/Latinx Student Nurses Affinity Group (HLSNAG) is committed to highlighting the health needs of all individuals and welcomes all nursing students and nurses who support this commitment. An objective of HLSNAG is the exploration of mitigating culturally related health needs by raising awareness on how nurses and nursing students can provide culturally appropriate care for the Hispanic/Latinx community. Additionally, our organization also functions as a resource of support and mentorship to its members as they embark on and/or explore their journey as registered nurses and advanced practice nurses.

The Military and Veteran Students Affinity Group (MVSAG) endeavors to provide resources and support to military and veteran students at VUSN. The group seeks opportunities for relationship building among military and veteran students through volunteer/service opportunities as well as informative meetings. The MVSAG strives to bring attention to the unique needs of military and veteran students returning to civilian life.

VUSN’s Neurodiversity Student Nurses Advocacy Group (NSTNAG) welcomes all students interested in promoting mental health awareness at VUSN and the greater Nashville community through education, advocacy and outreach initiatives. Whether you are personally impacted by mental health concerns or an ally—we invite your participation! The purpose of VUSN’s Neurodiversity Student Nurses Advocacy Group is to deepen our understanding of the lived experiences of students experiencing mental health concerns and take actionable steps to break down stigmas associated with mental health differences at VUSN, in the greater Nashville community and in future careers as nurse practitioners.

Students interested in Gerontological Nursing are aligned with the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing Center for Gerontological Nursing Excellence (VCGNE), which consists of educators, researchers and clinicians who are committed to providing excellent health care to older adults in the middle Tennessee area and beyond. VCGNE is proud to be a member of the National Hartford Centers of Gerontological Nursing Excellence (NHCGNE). The mission of the VCGNE is to promote the development of nursing clinical leaders, faculty, staff and researchers to enhance gerontological nursing across the continuum of care.

Graduate Student Council is the student government organization at the School of Nursing. Graduate Council activities include nominating members of the Honor Council, facilitating community service projects, designing VUSN apparel, collecting student feedback and planning social events within the School of Nursing.
