Pediatric Nursing Specialties

Gain the knowledge to care for newborns, infants and adolescents as a nurse practitioner.

Specialize in one of three MSN programs focused on children’s health:

  • Pediatric Primary Care (PNP-PC)
    • Provide primary care from birth through young adulthood, focusing on prevention and management of common illnesses and conditions to support optimal health of children
    • Options for BSNs and for students without nursing backgrounds
  • Pediatric Acute Care (PNP-AC)
    • Provide complex care for pediatric patients with chronic, acute or critical illnesses
    • Get your NP education at one of the first nursing schools to develop a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner specialty
    • Two years of registered nursing experience in acute, in-patient pediatrics or one year in a pediatric critical care or emergency department setting required
  • Neonatal (NNP)
    • Turn your RN knowledge into NP expertise to provide critical care for pre-term and full-term newborns through the first two years of life
    • Our accelerated program means you can be an NP in only 12 months with the nation’s only three-semester program
    • Two years of current Level III NICU experience required
