Students

The latest trends for enrollment of students from underrepresented groups at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing are depicted in the following graph. These data suggest positive trends for the recruitment of students from underrepresented groups at VUSN. Representation of male students at VUSN continues to remain constant with an 12% enrollment across all programs. In 2023, the percentage of students self-identifying as being from an ethnic/racial background/group across all programs increased to 29%.

Faculty

Vanderbilt has one of the largest male nursing faculty in the country. VUSN currently has 13 male faculty with full and part-time faculty appointments, comprising 13% of the faculty body.

More than half of VUSN’s African American faculty received undergraduate degrees from historically black colleges and universities.
