Bio

Dr. Julia M. Steed is an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, where she has held the position of Academic Director for the Family Nurse Practitioner Program since August 2023. Her academic trajectory synthesizes clinical expertise and scholarly rigor, underscored by a commitment to health promotion, academic inclusive excellence, and promoting a diverse healthcare workforce. Since joining Vanderbilt's faculty in 2017, Dr. Steed has demonstrated a profound interest in inclusive teaching and learning, student success, and curriculum evaluation. She prioritizes the implementation of evidence-based, systematic, and sustainable support structures within clinical and educational environments while considering the influence of individual factors. 

Dr. Steed currently practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in internal medicine/primary care. Dr. Steed is also a skilled clinician in public health and functional/integrative medicine and is professionally trained as a certified tobacco treatment specialist to deliver evidence-based interventions for smoking cessation.
