Minnick and Leming-Lee receive student-nominated awards
School of Nursing faculty Ann F. Minnick, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN, and Treasa “Susie” Leming-Lee, DNP, MSN, CPHQ, recently were honored with the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing’s Dean Colleen Conway-Welch awards.
The awards recognize faculty members in the Ph.D. and DNP programs for significant contributions to student learning in their courses and/or by encouraging students as their advisers or mentors. The honorees are selected by students for exhibiting knowledge of content area, modeling of professional behaviors in the development of their scholarly activity and encouragement of scholarship. The awards were presented by Dean Linda Norman, DSN, R.N., FAAN, the Valere Potter Menefee Professor of Nursing, during the fall doctoral intensive sessions at the school.
Minnick, the Julia Eleanor Chenault Professor of Nursing, is the senior associate dean for research and the post-doctoral fellowship director. She was selected for her outstanding work in the Ph.D. program. Minnick is recognized internationally for her contributions to quality and health service initiatives influencing workforce, educational and clinical regulatory practices. Her current research concerns health service delivery, nursing human resources and patient-centered care. She is the author of more than 70 articles and research reports.
Assistant Professor Leming-Lee received the award for her work in the DNP program. A nationally known expert and consultant in assessing, development and implementing quality infrastructures in health care facilities, Leming-Lee teaches the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety class for DNP students. Her research interests include improvement science in health care and academic settings, transformational learning and safety, quality and human factors, particularly in hospital settings. Earlier this year, she received the 2016 VUSN “Tradition Meets Innovation” award in recognition of her contributions to the standing and operational effectiveness of VUSN and its members.
The annual faculty awards were established in 2013 in honor of Colleen Conway-Welch, Dean Emerita, VUSN.
