Welcome Admitted Students

Welcome!

June 2023

Dear New Vanderbilt Masters Nursing Student,

Congratulations on your selection to Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN). I am delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you to the spring 2024 class of the Master in Nursing as well as a new journey in your career. You have been selected from a competitive pool of applicants and are entering a rigorous program.

As a Vanderbilt student, you will join a community of scholars committed to improving health care in the United States and globally. You will establish friendships with classmates and faculty that will continue through your life. After graduation, as alumni, you become a member of a much larger Vanderbilt community with networks all over the world.

It all starts now. Postings on this website contain critical information to assist you in making the transition to a master’s nursing student. Please check the website regularly. The first item to note is that there will be a list of items required to complete before you can register. The timeline for completion is critical, so please be mindful of the published dates.

Secondly, January orientation is mandatory.

Orientation will acquaint you with the curriculum, organization, policies and procedures of VUSN, and begin your new education path. Orientation also provides an opportunity to meet peers and faculty. Core sessions will be held along with informal events on these days. More details will continue to be posted on this website.

The staff in the Admissions Office is available to assist you; call them (615-322-3800) with any additional questions. For now, get ready to work hard, soak in all you can as a student, and look forward to what the next professional steps will be for you after this program is completed.

The faculty and I look forward to meeting you in January!

Sincerely,

Mavis N. Schorn, PhD, APRN, CNM, CNE, FACNM, FNAP, FAAN
