Running Windows Update

Your machine should already be set to run Windows update automatically. In the case that it is not you need to check for Windows Updates on a weekly basis.

Updates are divided into two categories: important and optional. They also include additional Microsoft products such as Office and any printer drivers you may have.

You should install the important updates and make an informed judgment on the optional ones. If, for example, it is a foreign language update you never use then ignore updating that.

We recommend not updating your web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) until we have certified that they do not present any issues or conflicts with VUSN-specific software.

If an update does create a problem for you please contact anyone in Informatics for advice on how to work around the problem.
