The purpose of this article is to explain how to create a multi-short answer question in the Brightspace Quiz tool.

Create Question
Step 1
Choose question type
- Navigate to the new question page from a specific quiz or the Question Library
- Select
Multi-Short Answer Question(MSA)
Step 2
Create question text
- Enter a title for your question (optional)
- Enter Points allotted (this can be edited later if you are unsure)
- Select Difficulty level (optional)
- Enter the Question Text
- Click
Insert an Image
if you want to add an image to the question, and provide a Description for it (optional) - Select the number of Input Boxes you want for your answer choices. You can adjust the number of Rows and Columns to control the size of the text box provided to users. The default number of answer choice boxes is set to 3. To change number of blanks provided to users, enter a new number

Add answer options
- If there are more possible answers than boxes provided, click
Add Answer
to add one additional answer; to add multiple answers at one time, enter a number in the box and clickAdd Answer
. To reduce the number of answer possibilities click - Each answer has its own row in the table. In the Answer column enter the answer text in the box (click
Check Answers
to see your entered text) - Assign a Weight to each answer
- Select the Evaluation method: Text, Case-Sensitive Text, or Regular Expression

TIP: In order for students to see the hint when taking the quiz, Allow hints must be enabled on the Properties tab.
