Enable Closed Captioning in Zoom

This article will discuss how to enable Closed Captioning for Zoom Meetings. Faculty and Staff may consider enabling this feature to benefit their audience.

  NOTE: It is important that you Enable Closed Caption before starting your Zoom meeting.

Step 1

Sign in to https://vanderbilt.zoom.us/ with your VUNetID and password. Then click on Settings in the left panel.

Step 2

Scroll down the page to the In Meeting (Advanced) section. Under this section you will find the setting for Closed Captioning. Make Sure it is enabled with the blue slider, then click the check box next to Enable live transcription service to show transcript on the side panel in-meeting. Click Save

Step 3

Once you start your Zoom Meeting at the bottom of the Zoom window, click on the CC button and you should see 3 options. The 3rd option is Live Transcript, click on Enable Live Transcription. This will transcribe the audio for your audience.

The audience can adjust the size of their text by clicking the ^ next to CC and selecting Subtitle Settings.
