Alliance Against Racism

AAR logoVUSN’s Alliance Against Racism (AAR) provides a collaborative and actionable space for continuous anti-racism work within ourselves, our VUSN community, and health care by providing caucus discussions, trainings, workshops, and a network of resources. We seek to foster accountability within curriculum, clinicals, and health care as a whole, through critical examination and understanding of how systemic racism operates historically and currently. We envision a nursing school in which students, graduates, and faculty provide compassionate care and foster a professional community through continued evaluation of, and action against, systemic racism for the betterment of our profession. We welcome any student who aligns and supports our mission.

Mission

The Alliance Against Racism’s mission is to challenge racism and promote anti-racist culture and networks in ourselves, institutions, and communities through education and action within VUSN.

History

Alliance Against Racism was founded in 2020 by a group of VUSN students passionate about dismantling racism within ourselves, communities, and VUSN. These students recognized a need for a space where students can come together in community for discussion, action, and accountability in anti-racism work.

Membership

Membership is open to any VUSN student. Interested students can email organization leadership to be added to AAR email list!
